Hi everyone,
Your class will be involved in a pilot project utilizing a blog for book discussions. There will be approximately 7 questions posted to the blog by Mrs. Delgado or Ms. Pez about your classroom novels, reading log books, or recreational reading. Grades will be awarded for clarity and depth of responses, providing examples from the book or real life, incorporating classmate’s discussion, and grammar and spelling. A rubric will be provided in class.
The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with a forum to discuss books and respond to classmates in a non-threatening environment. Comprehension, critical thinking and analysis, and backing up opinions with examples from the text will be emphasized. This assignment fulfills Florida’s Sunshine State Standards in reading, writing, and literature; LA.A.2.4, LA.B.1.4, LA.B.2.4, and LA.E.1.4.
This is a semester long assignment. The beginning date is Fri. Sept. 28, 2007, and the responses to the final question will be due on Mon. Jan. 14. Students will be informed of the posting of each question, and will be expected to answer the question within the following week.
